The Honor Magic V2 RSR : World thinnest foldable phone Designed by Porsche.

When folded, the Honor Magic V2 RSR is still only 9.9 mm thick.

About seven months ago, Honor Magic V2 RSR made its debut, and we were delighted by its sub-1cm folded thickness. Since then, the business has continued where Huawei left off by collaborating with Porsche Design. The first product of this collaboration is the “Magic V2 RSR,” a limited edition foldable phone (the “RSR” stands for “RennSport Rennwagen,” which translates to “racing sport racing car”). Porsche enthusiasts will notice a number of features that pay respect to the car company, such as the recognizable agate gray color and a flyline that runs down the center of the body and is said to resemble the hood of a Porsche 911. Along with its bolder trapezoidal makeover, the rear camera island has also been enhanced with a black titanium frame.

The Honor Magic V2 RSR stays the thinnest folding phone in the world because it has the same dimensions—it is 9.9 mm thick when folded and 4.7 mm when opened. Because of Honor’s unique hinge design that combines titanium alloy and proprietary steel, the extra decoration adds 3 grams to the base model, bringing it up to 234 grams (about 8.25 oz), which still beats competitors like the OnePlus Open, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Google’s Pixel Fold. This hinge is reportedly certified to last for at least 400,000 folds. Bonus: Because of its more energy-dense silicon-carbon cells than competitors, the Magic V2 line has a larger 5,000mAh battery capacity.

Honor Magic V2 RSR

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor from Qualcomm still powers the Honor Magic V2 RSR, but the only available storage choice is 1TB, along with 16GB of RAM. The remaining specifications for both Magic V2 versions are the same. In terms of displays, you get a 6.43-inch 2,376 x 1,060 external OLED display and a 7.92-inch 2,344 x 2,156 foldable OLED screen (with a hardly discernible crease). They can reach up to 1,600 nits and 2,500 nits of brightness, respectively. This Android phone uses its three-mic system to improve speech reception during phone calls, while its “IMAX Enhanced” stereo speakers provide excellent music quality. The fingerprint reader is included into the side-mounted power button, just like in the majority other foldable devices.

A 16-megapixel punch-hole selfie camera is located at the top of both screens, while the rear “Falcon Camera System” is made up of a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, and a 20-megapixel telephoto camera (2.5x zoom). Up to 4K resolution can be supported for video recording by both the front and rear cameras.

It should not be shocking that the Honor Magic V2 RSR boxset includes a few extra goodies, like an extra 66W charger, an active stylus, and a carrying case. The unique protection cover is encased in stitched vegan leather with a dark gray color. However, it lacks a kickstand, which is a feature that I find difficult to live without on foldable phones.

The Magic V2 RSR, like the standard model, will be available worldwide, however the pricing will not be revealed until MWC later this month. For context, the Honor Magic V2 RSR retails for 15,999 yuan, or around $2,220, in China; however, prices outside of the country are likely to increase significantly. The standard Magic V2 costs £1,700 ($2,140) in the UK and €1,999 ($2,150) in Europe; it is only available in 512GB flavor for foreign markets. In contrast, the China and Hong Kong versions (which also have international firmware) only cost about $1,400. It makes sense that, even in the absence of local warranty services, some astute buyers would prefer to import cellphones from other countries.
